Use the Solar Panel Calculator UK for an idea as to the benefits you may see from installing a solar photovoltaic (PV) system.
This calculator gives estimates based on the details you provide, and it makes a number of assumptions to indicate potential benefits. This is to help you decide whether a solar PV system is right for you.
Use of the calculator and its outputs is not a guarantee that you will see the exact same electricity bill savings from the installation of your planned solar PV system.
This calculator estimates potential payments from the Smart Export Guarantee (SEF) Scheme, which was introduced on 1 January 2020 and requires energy suppliers to pay customers for the electricity they export to the National Grid. There are a range of tariffs available for this and in some cases participation requires metering. Deals may also be time limited or have other conditions which you should consider carefully in order to make the best choice for you.

The most popular solar panel system size is between 3.6kWp (8 solar panels) and 4kWp (10 solar panels), according to our previous customers. This size of solar panel system generates 3,750kWh of electricity per year, on average for owners.
For comparison, a home using a ‘medium’ amount of electricity gets through 2,900kWh per year on average, according to energy regulator Ofgem. A ‘high’ user gets through 4,300kWh per year.
